This position is responsible for E-911 call taking for the Department of Public Safety involving the operation computerized communications equipment at the Communication Centers (PSAP) in Williston. Incumbents will be working in a 24/7 environment with personnel on all shifts. Work is performed under the general supervision of the PSAP Administrator or the Emergency Communications Supervisor.

PUBLIC SAFETY BACKGROUND CHECKS: Candidates must pass any level of background investigation applicable to the position to include Motor Vehicle/Criminal Records, Personal History, Credit and any additional background check(s).

Environmental Factors

Due to the nature of this work, candidates with 100% loss of sight, hearing ability, or with major speech impediments will not be considered. Eligibility determination of candidates with a less severe disability will be made on an individual basis. Incumbents must be able to function under stress and be able to work rotating shifts when required. This is a front-line position for the Department of Public Safety. 

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent.

Note: Certification by the E-911 Board as a telecommunicator may be required within six months of entry into the job.
Note: All candidates must pass a security clearance conducted by the Department of Public Safety.

Preferred Qualifications

One (1) year of customer service experience is preferred.
