Overview

Are you passionate about Vermont food and agriculture? The Administration Division inside The Vermont Agency of Agriculture, Food & Markets (VAAFM) is seeking an Agriculture Disaster Assistance Specialist to provide guidance to Vermont producers seeking assistance through the Vermont Agriculture and Timber Disaster Assistance Program. This position will be responsible for eligibility determination and applicant referrals to other appropriate resources such as technical assistance and support services and well as grant writing. 


Excellent communication skills, knowledge of grants and contracts and/or construction experience preferred.  Work is performed in a standard office setting and under the general direction of the Agriculture Disaster Assistance Administrator.

It is a Limited Service position, which is non-tenured and authorized for a specific period of time. Limited Service positions are established for specially funded projects or programs.

Environmental Factors

Duties are performed primarily in a standard office setting, with some travel to outside meetings and site visits, for which private means of transportation must be available.

Minimum Qualifications

Two (2) years or more of experience in a customer service environment that included: regular use of computer programs AND clerical work and data entry.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with grants and contracts.

Agriculture experience.
