We are seeking an attorney ready to take on challenging legal work impacting Medicaid and health reform activities in Vermont. Success in the Staff Attorney position requires the following:
• Ability to advise on legal and policy questions related to various Medicaid and healthcare reform matters for the State.
• Provide advice on complex state and federal law and regulations including the Affordable Care Act, HIPAA, and public records requests.
• Knowledge of, or willingness to gain expertise in, healthcare law and other areas of the law relevant to the work of the Department.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• A demonstrated commitment to public service.
• Must be a member in good standing of the Vermont bar or eligible for admission.
The Staff Attorney position is a full-time, exempt position located in Waterbury, VT.

Minimum Qualifications
Candidates must be a member in good standing of the Vermont bar or eligible for admission. Candidates must have relevant legal experience and have excellent oral and written communication skills, a demonstrated commitment to public service, knowledge of healthcare law, and other areas of the law relevant to the work of the Department and the ability to manage a significant caseload.
Compensation
Salary and benefits are based upon qualifications and experience in accordance with the Attorney Pay Plan.
