Overview

Enjoy a diverse workload that varies in complexities and subject as a Staff Attorney at the Department of Vermont Health Access (DVHA). We are seeking an attorney ready to take on challenging legal work impacting Medicaid and health reform activities in Vermont. Work in a supportive hybrid work environment with eleven paid state holidays, in addition to a robust benefits package.


Success in the Staff Attorney position requires the following:
•    Ability to advise on legal and policy questions related to various Medicaid and healthcare reform matters for the State. 
•    Provide advice on complex state and federal law and regulations including the Affordable Care Act, HIPAA, and public records requests. 
•    Knowledge of, or willingness to gain expertise in, healthcare law and other areas of the law relevant to the work of the Department. 
•    Excellent oral and written communication skills.
•    A demonstrated commitment to public service.
•    Must be a member in good standing of the Vermont bar or eligible for admission.


The Staff Attorney position is a full-time, exempt position located in Waterbury, VT.

Minimum Qualifications

Candidates must be a member in good standing of the Vermont bar or eligible for admission. Candidates must have relevant legal experience and have excellent oral and written communication skills, a demonstrated commitment to public service, knowledge of healthcare law, and other areas of the law relevant to the work of the Department and the ability to manage a significant caseload.

Compensation

Salary and benefits are based upon qualifications and experience in accordance with the Attorney Pay Plan.
