Overview
The Department of Vermont Health Access (DVHA) is seeking a Senior Staff Attorney (Staff Attorney III or IV) to assist the Department with a particular focus on legal guidance regarding rate setting and estate recovery, and with the opportunity to be responsible for other legal tasks as needed. The successful candidate will have at least five years of relevant experience, have a degree from an accredited law school, and be a member of or eligible to join the Vermont Bar.
The Senior Staff Attorney will join a team that provides legal support to every unit in the Department and thus will operate as in-house counsel. In this role, they will be expected to develop particular expertise in rate setting and estate recovery. However, they will also receive the chance to liaise with external counsel to support the state's litigation efforts on behalf of the Department, will work on administrative rulemaking to support the policy team, and may be called on to offer legal support and guidance to a broad array of diverse teams including but not limited to the pharmacy, clinical, and member-provider services units. DVHA is currently seeking a senior staff attorney, who would qualify as a Staff Attorney III or Staff Attorney IV per the State of Vermont Attorney Pay Plan.

Minimum Qualifications
The successful candidate will have at least at least five years of demonstrated proficiency in one or some combination of the following: Medicaid law, healthcare law and regulation, administrative/regulatory law, contracts, or other experience relevant to the operations of the Department.
