The Quality Assurance Application Specialist (QAAS) is a new position created to meet the increasing technical needs of Family Services. This position sits within the Quality Assurance Unit in Family Services and will spend much of their time interfacing with Agency of Digital Services staff to plan, design, test, and roll out new and updated IT applications. They will work closely with all levels of FSD staff to oversee implementation and maintenance of systems, which will ensure successful program design and quality delivery of services. Additionally, this position will serve as the FSD lead on the implementation of a Comprehensive Child Welfare Information System (CCWIS), which will replace the antiquated data collection system FSD is currently utilizing. Given the scope of work covered by the QAAS, applicants must be detail-oriented and possess the ability to problem solve data and system related inconsistencies and ensure follow up with division staff.

Environmental Factors

Duties are performed primarily in home/office settings although field travel will be necessary for which private means of transportation must be available. Although duties normally occur within a regular weekday schedule, there are times that work occurs on evenings or weekends. Considerable tact is required for dealing with district staff and external partners. Some pressure from deadlines may be experienced. The role involves intensive interaction with departmental staff to include officials who may advocate strongly for their programs. Must be able to communicate and interact directly with employees at varying degrees of system skill sets as well as varying levels of authority.

Minimum Qualifications

Three (3) years or more experience at or above a technical level working in a human services program, computer science program or working with business applications.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferences include: degree or coursework in a human services field; experience as a social worker comparable to the work performed in the State of Vermont Department of Children and Families, Field Services Division; degree or coursework in computer science field and knowledge of systems enhancement work.
