Overview
The Public Health Analyst I (PHA I) turns data into information for use by the Vermont Department of Health Division of Substance Use Programs and associated partners. The PHA I develops data collection tools and methods, manages data collection, analyzes and summarizes data and facilitates feedback from interested internal and external parties. The PHA I work products support prioritization and decision-making around substance misuse programming and aids in strategic planning. The PHA I supports Division grant application and reporting processes and supports vendors in completing funded work.

This position, Public Health Analyst I - Limited Service (Job Requisition #54623), is open to all State employees and external applicants. It is a Limited Service position, which is non-tenured and authorized for a specific period of time. Limited Service positions are established for specially funded projects or programs.

AHS BACKGROUND CHECKS: Candidates must pass any level of background investigation applicable to the position. Environmental Factors
Duties are performed primarily in a standard office setting. Meetings with data users and providers may require some travel, for which private means of transportation must be available. Some work outside of normal office hours may be required.
Minimum Qualifications
Master's degree or higher in biostatistics, epidemiology, public health or a social sciences discipline, including 6 credits in statistics at the graduate level.
OR
Bachelor's degree in statistics, a health-related or social sciences discipline, including 12 college credits in statistics, research or computer sciences, and 6 of these credits must be in statistics AND one (1) year or more of professional level work in research, statistics, informatics or program evaluation where the activities include gathering, analyzing and interpreting statistical data.
OR
Associate’s degree in a public health, health, scientific or informatics field AND two (2) years or more of experience in research, statistics, informatics or program evaluation where the activities include gathering, analyzing and interpreting statistical data.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in public health or a health-related field.
