Overview

Come join a team of dedicated and compassionate staff at a new 16-bed state-of-the-art Secure Residential Facility in Essex, Vermont.. You will play an essential role in the person-centered treatment of adults with severe mental illness. The facility is over 17,000 square feet with a separate full-size gymnasium. The new facility is scheduled to open in early April of 2023 and will be transitioning from the current 7-bed Secure Residential Program located in Middlesex, Vermont.

 

The nurse manager has 24/7 responsibility for the overall functioning of nursing and other clinical care providers at the facility.  The Nurse Manager is largely responsible for assuring regulatory compliance. The position provides direction and ensures feedback to nursing, other clinical care providers, residents, families and/or responsible parties. The Nurse Manager is the key communicator between other managers/supervisors, nursing administration, collaborating health care professionals and other facility departments as indicated.

 

Mission:
The River Valley Therapeutic Residence (RVTR) aims to improve the health and well-being of Vermont's most vulnerable populations while focusing on psychiatric rehabilitation services and psychosocial treatment delivered in a recovery oriented, trauma informed, person-centered, holistic environment. The program offers a safe space to focus on recovery and community integration for those individuals no longer needing hospital level of care but who are not yet ready to transition back to the community. Telework:
During this time of transition, individuals will need to travel to Middlesex, Waterbury, and Berlin for training and shadowing. There may be some flexibility for remote work during this transition as well.

Environmental Factors

Duties primarily performed in a clinical and office setting. Work may require travel off-site. Exposure to communicable diseases, blood borne pathogens, potentially physically and verbally violent patient population and other stressful situations may occur. May be required to work evenings, nights, weekends and extended shifts as the need arises.

Minimum Qualifications

Possession of (or eligible for) licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in Vermont OR eligible to practice in the state of Vermont via a multi-state license AND five (5) years or more of professional nursing experience in the nursing specialty INCLUDING two (2) years or more at a supervisory level.

 

NOTE: Must maintain Vermont licensure as a Registered Nurse OR eligible to practice in the state of Vermont via a multi-state license as a condition of employment.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).

Special Requirements

Overtime work is required to maintain minimum staffing levels and for unannounced regulatory inspections and is considered a condition of employment. The ability to work overtime when required is an essential function of this job class.
