Overview

The Agency of Digital Services (ADS) is seeking a self-motivated candidate who is interested in being the coordinator of a technology related activity to keep team members organized, accomplishing tasks timely, and supporting senior level peers charged with implement technology projects. This position may also independently manage small projects and is considered a mid to entry-level Project Manager. In this role the candidate would join the ADS's Enterprise Project Management Office (EPMO) as an IT Project Manager level two. We have standard work schedule of Monday through Friday, 7:45am-4:30pm with some flexibility in these hours and the current ability to telework four days a week.

 

This is the second level of five in the Information Technology (IT) Project Manager series. Incumbents perform project management at an entry level for a department or agency of Vermont State Government where, because of the structure of assignments, decision making, and complexity are limited to carrying out established work processes and operations. Work is performed under the direct guidance of a senior level team member.

 

Examples of work involve coordination and project management support of technology and technology related projects. A project manager at this level work with information technology (IT) staff, subject matter experts (SMEs), and program leaders to coordinate the planning, organizing, implementing, and enhancing of information systems and services for the State of Vermont. Creating, and documenting project work plans, including scope, schedule, and cost, and revising as appropriate. Identifying and coordinating assignment of resources and ensuring resource plan is carried out consistent with overall project goals and schedule. Monitoring and controlling day to day project aspects of one or more projects. Reviewing deliverables prepared by vendor to ensure consistency with requirements and recommends acceptance or rework. Developing and vetting risk mitigation plans. Being responsible for document management, including version control, and creation of project records.

Environmental Factors

Work is performed in a standard office setting, but some travel may be required for which private means of transportation should be available. Work outside of regular business hours may be expected.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or an Information Technology field

OR

Three (3) years or more of experience in the field of information technology including one (1) year or more where the primary role was a project manager.

OR

Certification as a Project Manager Professional AND one (1) year or more of experience in the field of information technology where the primary role was project manager.
