Overview

The State Of Vermont Digital Services Agency is looking for an IT Systems Developer to work with our team in Waterbury.  In this role, you will:

 

Build and maintain working software applications
Design, develop, refactor, update and maintain code base for the applications that support DAIL programs. Tools to accomplish this may include SQL Server Management Studio, Git Source Control, Visual Studio, web browser developer tools, text editors, Microsoft Office Tools, Salesforce, Azure Dev Ops and willingness to learn new skills. This work is done with little or no supervision and final review from technical leads and supervisors.

 

Maintain internally hosted applications that have been procured from a third party.
Work with supervisor, tech lead, and vendor to configure and maintain procured applications. Create documentation and guide decisions. This may include deploying software upgrades, configuring new functionality via front end or back end processes, troubleshooting issues, and migrating applications and databases to new servers when appropriate.

 

Advise and assist with developed Salesforce solutions and similar tools.
Meet with program staff to learn how the tools are used, and help to resolve issues with functionality, response time, and usability. Review seasonal releases for impact,  Enforce documentation of changes and training as well as assist with training and enabling the business to be their own first tier of support.

 

Create and maintain software and hardware documentation
Using tools such as WORD and Excel, organize information into DAIL templates for architecture design, requirements, and supplemental specifications. Create custom documentation for unique systems and processes as needed.

 

A fingerprint-supported background check may be required based on the assigned job duties and location.

 

As of July 14, 2025, the step 1 rate for pay grade 28 will be $37.06 per hour.

Environmental Factors

Work is performed in a standard office setting and there is considerable interaction with users and members of project teams requiring tact and diplomacy to balance competing views. Some travel may be required for which private means of transportation should be available. Work outside of regular work schedule may be anticipated.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in computer science AND three (3) or more years of experience in computer or network support, programming or analysis, or database administration.

 

OR

 

Associate's degree in computer science or college-level coursework that includes 15 computer science credits AND five (5) or more years of experience in computer or network support, programming or analysis, or database administration.

 

OR

 

Eight (8) or more years of experience in computer or network support, programming or analysis, or database administration.
