Overview

This is a Limited Service position funded through June 2024.  This position is renewed in three year increments and will likely be renewed multiple times. 

 

The Vermont Agency of Digital Services is looking for a Systems Developer to be embedded with the Department of Public Safety (DPS) for IT application support and development.  This position supports the technology Public Safety relies on to promote the detection and prevention of crime, to participate in searches for lost and missing persons, and to assist in statewide or local disasters or emergencies. Candidates have the opportunity for teleworking and a flexible work schedule (at management discretion).

 

Position duties include but are not limited to:

  • Assist with the management of Public Safety’s technology portfolio, including continuous improvement of existing technology, managing vendors and aligning solutions with State and Department strategic goals and plans.
  • Provide leadership and guidance around using new or existing technology to develop statewide justice data sharing between a variety of justice partners.
  • Work closely with State business office staff and vendors to assist in cost efficient technology procurement activities.
  • And work with other Digital Service team members around development needs, preferably utilizing state enterprise solutions such as Microsoft PowerApps, Salesforce, OnBase, MuleSoft and other applications and services.

Those with all or some of the following experience will be given preference, but the candidate with applicable experience can be trained to meet position requirements:

  • Two or more years in technology vendor procurement and management.
  • Two or more years in development utilizing Microsoft PowerApps, SQL Reporting or Salesforce tools.
  • Experience working on system within the Microsoft Azure or Amazon Web Services Cloud environment.
  • A background supporting justice, emergency management, first responder or state or local government related technology or business requirements.

PUBLIC SAFETY BACKGROUND CHECKS: This position will primarily support the Department of Public Safety. Candidates must pass any level of background investigation applicable to the position to include finger-print supported Criminal Records, Motor Vehicle records, Personal History, Credit and any additional background check(s).

Environmental Factors

Work is performed in a standard office setting and there is significant interaction with users and members of project teams requiring some tact and diplomacy to balance competing views. Work outside of regular work schedule can be anticipated.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in computer science;

OR

Associate's degree in computer science or college-level coursework that includes 15 computer science credits AND two (2) or more years of experience in computer or network support, programming or analysis, or database administration.

OR

Four (4) or more years of experience in computer or network support, programming or analysis, or database administration.
