Title: Fingerprint Analyst I

Overview
The Fingerprint Analyst receives, examines, classifies, and records fingerprints submitted to the Vermont Crime Information Center (VCIC) by law enforcement agencies using automated and manual methods.
Based upon data supplied via submissions, the Analyst will create new records within centrally managed criminal history database for dissemination for Local, state, and national law enforcement purposes. The position will respond to inquiries from Law Enforcement Agencies concerning FP related issues, including identification, procedure, and technical assistance. Provides FP related information (including demographics) concerning identification of individuals involved with law enforcement events according to established guidelines.
Limited teleworking opportunities may be considered upon the completion of initial probation and training.

Environmental Factors
Work is usually performed in a normal office setting. Incumbents must be able to concentrate on details and perform accurate work in the face of frequent interruptions. Human relations skills may be needed to deal with the general public. Pressure from work deadline is predictable.
Minimum Qualifications
Two (2) years or more of college coursework in a related field
OR
High school diploma or equivalent AND two (2) or more years of clerical work experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Typing speed of 35 net words or higher per minute.
Special Requirements
Incumbent will become proficient in basic fingerprint classification within six (6) months from date of hire.
Incumbent will become proficient with criminal history systems, including AFIS, VCHIP, PsPortals/Glink.
