Class Definition
Upper level management work at a professional leadership level involving working with the executive team in the day-to-day management and oversight of the Department youth and adult community programs. Provides assistance to the Director of Mental Health Services. Extensive interaction at the state and community levels with Designated Agencies, Designated Hospitals, advocates, citizens, legislators may be required. Supervision is exercised over professional employees. Work is performed under the supervision of the Director of Mental Health Services. All employees of the Agency of Human Services perform their respective functions adhering to four key practices: customer service, holistic service, strengths-based relationships and results orientation.
Environmental Factors
Work is performed in a standard office setting. Evening meetings are occasional. Travel is required for which private means of transportation must be available. Interaction with client advocates and the pressures of budgetary, program, and legislative issues are present.
Minimum Qualifications
Professional Licensure in psychology, , social work, or counseling AND three (3) years or more of experience providing direct service to clients diagnosed with a mental illness AND three (3) years or more of experience at an administrative or managerial level of responsibility.

Candidates must pass any level of background investigation applicable to the position. AHS Policy 4.02, Hiring Standards, pursuant to 20 V.S.A. 2056c or other applicable statutory authority, requires criminal record checks for all AHS positions, including motor vehicle driving record checks and national record checks where appropriate.
