Overview

Provide professional level knowledge and skills related to risk and quality management activities at the Department of Vermont Health Access (DVHA). DVHA's Risk & Quality Management Unit (RQM) is looking for a Quality & Program Specialist committed to working cross-departmentally on quality assessment and performance improvement activities. The RQM Unit takes a pro-active approach to regulatory preparedness and strives to create a culture of continuous quality improvement within Vermont's Medicaid Program. We conduct risk assessments, coordinate compliance audits, use data to inform decisions about our performance, and help staff improve results when indicated.

 

The Quality & Program Specialist Position has the following responsibilities:

  • Work collaboratively with internal and external partners.
  • Analyze complex federal standards and evaluate current work against them.
  • Maintain data visualization tools and contribute to DVHA's performance accountability platform.
  • Support annual performance measure and survey production cycles.
  • Coordinate improvement projects as assigned.
  • Manage and/or support work groups.

 

The ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal and organizational skills and be comfortable communicating clearly both orally and in writing. 
Moderate to advanced skills in Word and Excel and experience with continuous quality improvement concepts are preferred.

Environmental Factors

Work is performed in a standard office setting.  Work involves regular interaction with departmental leadership. Some work outside of normal office hours may be required.

Minimum Qualifications

Associate's degree in human services, business administration or a related field AND five (5) years or more of experience  in quality assurance, data analytics, contracts/grants or related fields.

OR

Bachelor's degree in human services, business administration or a related field AND three (3) years or more of experience in quality assurance, data analytics, contracts/grants or related fields.

OR

Master's degree in human services, business administration or a related field AND two (2) years or more of experience in quality assurance, data analytics, contracts/grants or related fields.

Preferred Qualifications

Completion of (or working towards) the Problem Solver or Advanced Problem Solver Continuing Improvement Learning Path(s) in the State of Vermont Continuous Improvement Training Program.
