Class Definition

Management of acute inpatient behavioral health care resources on a state-wide basis for Medicaid eligible and Community Rehabilitation and Treatment Program enrollees within the care management unit of the Department of Mental Health. Duties include clinical review and level of care determination competencies, provision of case consultation and care review of individuals who may be admitted involuntarily or voluntarily to acute mental health inpatient settings (including Medicaid reimbursed clients in general hospitals), including consultation and coordination with Designated Hospitals and Designated or General Hospitals, Designated Agency emergency services, and adult and/or children's services treatment teams, and law enforcement agencies. Duties are performed under the general direction of the Care Management Director.

All employees of the Agency of Human Services perform their respective functions adhering to four key practices: customer service, holistic service, strengths-based relationships and results orientation.

Environmental Factors

Duties are performed in a variety of settings, both within the Central Office and with frequent need for travel to other settings such as general hospitals and community mental health centers for which private means of transportation must be available.

Minimum Qualifications

Master's degree in a mental health related field AND four (4) years of clinical experience in counseling, social work, psychology or nursing, including experience with adults, children and adolescents with severe emotional disturbance, including two (2) years of experience in a community-based system of care and knowledge of treatment options including inpatient treatment for adults, children and adolescents.

Special Requirements

Currently licensed mental health professional such as Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Licensed Psychologist, Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor or Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor; or possession of Vermont license within six months of hire.
