Overview

Buildings & General Services (BGS) at the State of Vermont is looking for a strong leader for the position of Custodian IV. This position will function as a team lead and duties will include planning, organizing, and directing a team in addition to participating in a cleaning crew. Candidates should have the ability to work independntly and make informed decisions. Ideal candidate will be able to read and comprehend service manuals, product infromation, and inventory records. Hours are noon to 8:30pm, Monday through Friday. This position requries successful completetion of a criminal background check, as work will take place in both Department of Public Safety buildings and State Police barracks.

Environmental Factors

Ability to work under stressful conditions. Incumbents must be able to work outdoors in all types of weather. Good physical condition and ability to climb ladders and lift heavy weights and equipment (up to 40 lbs.) is necessary. Some overtime or weekend work may be required. Travel may be required for which private means of transportation must be available.

Minimum Qualifications

High School diploma or equivalent AND four (4) years or more of building custodial work, including floor care and one (1) year as a lead worker or supervisor.

OR

Two (2) years or more of experience as a Buildings and General Services Custodian III.

Special Requirements

Some positions in this class may require a valid driver's license and/or own transportation for travel between work sites.

A criminal record check and/or child abuse registry check may be required for some positions within this class based on the locations where duties are to be performed.
