Overview

Technical work as a Criminal Record Specialist for the Vermont Criminal Information Center, Department of Public Safety involving automated records management. Work is performed under the supervision of an administrative or professional supervisor.

PUBLIC SAFETY BACKGROUND CHECKS: Candidates must pass any level of background investigation applicable to the position to include Motor Vehicle/Criminal Records, Personal History, Credit and any additional background check(s).
 

Environmental Factors

Work is usually performed in a normal office setting. Incumbents must be able to concentrate on details and perform accurate work in the face of frequent interruptions. Human relations skills may be needed to deal with the general public. Pressure from work deadline is predictable.

Minimum Qualifications

High School diploma or equivalent AND two (2 ) or more years of clerical work experience

OR

Two (2) years or more of college coursework in a related field.

Performance Requirement: Keyboarding (typing) speed of 35 net words per minute.

This position requires candidates to complete a typing test and achieve a minimum score of 35 WPM.  You must complete and pass this test before the application deadline in order to be considered for this position. The typing test can be accessed online: The State of Vermont Typing Test: 35 WPM

A security clearance conducted by the Department of Public Safety will be required for candidates appointed to this class.
