Overview
The Vermont Department of Health seeks a Communications Coordinator II to join the Communication Office. This position will support the Communication Office by handling direct public inquiries, managing content on social media and other communication platforms, producing newsletters, and performing additional communication-related tasks as assigned, all while maintaining the Health Department brand and voice. This position would also work on communications during public health events and emergencies.
Our ideal candidate is a collaborative and detail-oriented communication professional with strong customer service and writing skills who has experience with social media management and design, and a talent for communicating complex information clearly, promptly, and empathetically to diverse audiences.

AHS BACKGROUND CHECKS: Candidates must pass any level of background investigation applicable to the position. Environmental Factors
Duties are performed in both office and field settings. Some work outside of normal office hours may be required. Stress may be encountered from tight deadlines, conflicting opinions, and as the result of public information and communication decisions.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma AND four (4) years of relevant experience in public health communications, marketing, advertising, public relations, or a closely related field.
OR
Associate’s degree in public health, journalism, communications, marketing, advertisement, public relations, education or other closely related field AND three (3) years or more of experience at a professional level in the private or public sector in marketing, advertisement, communications, or public relations.
OR
Bachelor's degree in public health, journalism, communications, marketing, advertisement, public relations, education or other closely related field AND two (2) years or more of experience at a professional level in the private or public sector in marketing, advertisement, communications, or public relations.
OR
Master's degree in public health, journalism, communication, marketing, advertisement, public relations, education or other closely related field AND one (1) year or more of experience at a professional level in the private or public sector in marketing, advertisement, communications, or public relations.
