Overview

The Child Development Division in the Department for Children and Families seeks a skilled and knowledgeable leader to join a team of child development professionals committed to the well-being of children and the evolution of a coordinated and effective system of early childhood and afterschool child care and child development services. The Director will oversee all aspects of the Children’s Integrated Services (CIS) early childhood prevention and intervention services unit. The work is innovative, demanding and hands on and includes communication, collaboration, and coordination with internal and external partners and clients. Leadership and management experience required. Other responsibilities include budget management, personnel management, and strategic planning and implementation.

Environmental Factors

Duties are typically performed in a standard office setting based at the Child Development Division in Waterbury, Vermont. Work related travel may require private means of transportation. Duties, responsibilities and certain assignments may require work outside of the normal work schedule.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in public or business administration, early childhood development/programs or other human service field AND four (4) years at a professional level in early childhood or other human services, INCLUDING two (2) or more years in a managerial or supervisory role.

OR

Master's degree in public or business administration or a related human service field AND four (4) years at a professional level in early childhood or other human services, INCLUDING two (2) or more years in a managerial or supervisory role.
