Overview

Buildings and General Services (BGS) has an exciting opportunity with room for growth as a BGS Custodial Supervisor. This position will oversee the day-to-day duties of the custodial staff at the Waterbury Complex and the surrounding buildings. The ability to effectively communicate and work in a diverse and exciting environment is a necessity.  

 

This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday, 6am to 2:30pm, with some overtime required. A valid drivers license is required, and position requires successful completion of multiple background checks.

Environmental Factors

Duties are performed during an assigned shift at one or more state owned or leased buildings. Cleaning work often involves addressing bloodborne pathogens and other potentially infections material. Incumbents must be able to work outdoors in all types of weather. Good physical condition and ability to climb ladders and lift weights of up to 50-lbs. is necessary. Overtime and evening work may be required. 

Minimum Qualifications

Five (5) years or more of building custodial work that included floor maintenance tasks such as stripping and waxing floors and carpet extraction INCLUDING at least three (3) years of experience as a supervisor with experience in establishing performance expectations, writing and discussing performance evaluations, and delivering supervisory feedback.

OR

Three (3) years as a BGS Custodian IV.
 

Special Requirements

Some positions in this class require a valid driver’s license and own transportation for travel between work locations. 

Candidates must pass any level of background investigation applicable to the position.
