Job responsibilities can vary from park to park, but here is a simplified list of some typical duties for any staff member or volunteer working in a Vermont State Park:


  • Working in the park office
  • Registering campers
  • Providing area information
  • Collecting fees
  • Cleaning campsites
  • Cleaning restrooms
  • Mowing
  • Maintaining gardens
  • Staffing boat rentals or concessions
  • Painting


Our season generally runs from early May through mid-September or October. Depending on the park and position type, term of employment could range from 10 to 25 weeks in total. All jobs are seasonal and temporary. All finalists for these positions will be background checked. Interviews and hiring are completed on a rolling basis.


All employees receive two punch passes to share with friends or family, free camping and access to our rental boats on a space available basis, free day use and a free fishing license. Staff will also receive a discount on parks merchandise and free or reduced admission to many Vermont tourist attractions. You will be issued an ID card valid during your time with us to enable you to take advantage of various attractions for free. Our positions qualify for various pro-deals for those working in the outdoor recreation industry. Optional 457-B deferred compensation plan to help you save for retirement.
