Overview

The Department of Buildings and General Services is seeking a Master Plumber. A vehicle for daily travel and tools will be provided. This position is responsible for plumbing installation and design, as well as maintenance of routine and complex plumbing work. Duties also include oversight of contracted work. The pay range for this position is $20.88 to $25.73 per hour, depending on experience.

 

This position has the option of being based out of Brattleboro, White River, or Springfield.

Class Definition

Highly skilled plumbing installation and maintenance work for the Department of Buildings and General Services involving the design, installation, and maintenance of routine and complex plumbing work and oversight of contracted work. Work is performed under the direction of Facilities Supervisor or District Facilities Manager.

Environmental Factors

Duties are performed at state buildings including correctional facilities and psychiatric care facilities. Contact with inmates and patients may be anticipated. Incumbents may encounter harassment or hostile behavior, and must be able to respond in a calm and professional manner. Must be able to climb ladders, lift weights up to 75 pounds, and work in cramped, wet, or poorly ventilated areas. Plumbing repairs may entail exposure to raw sewage, for which protective clothing must be worn. This position may require emergency response to calls outside of regular work hours. Some potential for physical injury may be present. Position requires possession of a valid driver's license.

Minimum Qualifications

High School diploma or equivalent AND must possess a current valid State of Vermont Master Plumber's License.

Preferred Qualifications

A valid, current drivers license is required.
