Overview
The Electrician is responsible for electrical installation and maintenance work for the Vermont Military Department. This position will be responsible for routine and complex work on all electrical systems and fire alarms in assigned buildings. The incumbent will supervise work performed, including work performed by contractors. The Electrician will work with the Division of Fire Safety Inspectors to ensure code compliant installations and will also be responsible for ordering and maintaining electrical supply stock. This position will require work at the armories and maintenance shops trough out Vermont. This is a full-time position with overtime required for emergency call-ins and standby.
This is a limited service position funded through 9/30/2024 with anticipated continued funding.

This position, Electrician (#28621), is open to all State employees and external applicants. This is a Limited Service position, which is non-tenured and authorized for a specific period of time. Limited Service positions are established for specially funded projects or programs.

Special Requirements: Incumbents of this job are issued a Department of Defense Common Access Card (CAC), which is issued only upon passing a federal background check (Tier 1) including a fingerprint-supported criminal record check. Candidates must obtain the CAC for successful completion of original probation. Possession of the CAC is a condition of employment. Additionally, Incumbents of this job may be required to view and access classified information, therefore a favorably adjudicated (Tier 3) Secret Clearance may be required.
Environmental Factors
Work is performed in and around assigned buildings and systems. Work with charged systems may be required on occasion. Work in all weather conditions is required. Transport of materials such as spools of wire, electrical motors, and ladders requires lifting weights up to fifty pounds. An incumbent is required to work on ladders, in crawl spaces, and under equipment and furniture.
Minimum Qualifications
Current Electrician's license AND two (2) years or more of experience installing and maintaining electrical systems.
