Overview
The Rutland Office of Vocational Rehabilitation is recruiting for a skilled rehabilitation/career counselor with an ability to support consumers with physical, psychological, or cognitive disabilities in their efforts to access careers and gain employment. Job duties include assessment, guidance, and counseling, working with employment staff to secure employment and work experiences, case management, documentation, and collaboration with many community providers.
Who May Apply
This position, VR Counselor II - Limited Service (Job Requisition #20521), is open to all State employees and external applicants. It is a Limited Service position, which is non-tenured and authorized for a specific period of time. Limited Service positions are established for specially funded projects or programs.

AHS BACKGROUND CHECKS: Candidates must pass any level of background investigation applicable to the position. Class Definition
Counseling and casework duties at an advanced professional level for the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation (DVR) involving provision of vocational rehabilitation to individuals with physical and emotional disabilities. Duties include work with consumers with the most severe disabilities and oversight of work of lower level counseling staff. Work is performed under the general supervision of an administrative superior. All employees of the Agency of Human Services perform their respective functions adhering to four key practices: customer service, holistic service, strengths-based relationships and results orientation.
Environmental Factors
Duties are performed in a variety of settings including Department offices, consumer homes, institutions, work sites, and premises of service providers. Substantial travel is required, for which private means of transportation must be available. Some work outside of normal office hours may be required.
Minimum Qualifications
Master's degree in rehabilitation counseling AND one (1) year or more experience at a professional level in the provision of vocational rehabilitation services to individuals with disabilities.
OR
Master's degree in psychology, social work, special education or counseling, or a related counseling field INCLUDING completion of the following graduate courses: Medical Psychosocial Aspects of Disabilities, Vocational Counseling, Vocational Assessment and Evaluation, and Job Placement or Occupational Information AND one (1) year or more experience at a professional level in the provision of vocational rehabilitation services to individuals with disabilities.
OR
Master's degree in education with a special education focus INCLUDING completion of the following graduate courses: Medical Psychosocial Aspects of Disabilities, Vocational Counseling, Vocational Assessment and Evaluation, and Job Placement or Occupational Information AND one (1) year or more experience at a professional level in the provision of vocational rehabilitation services to individuals with disabilities.
