Overview

The Vermont Veterans Memorial Cemetery, in Randolph Center Vermont, is seeking applicants for seasonal employment. We are located at 367 Furnace Rd. Randolph Ctr., VT. The scope of work is preparing grave sites (urns and caskets) for interment, hand mowing, string trimming, weeding, installation of gravestones, minor janitorial tasks, and the like. All hires complete all duties within the cemetery, must be able to maneuver up to 60lbs, be over the age of 18, have a good work ethic, and be able to work well with others. These positions are temp hires for the 2026 burial season with the State of Vermont, Office of Veterans Affairs. Positions start in April and run through October often into November, hours and days worked may be negotiable. The Hourly rate is PG15, 18.01 an hour and will be increasing over the summer.

Environmental Factors

Duties are performed outdoors and inside buildings. Incumbents must be able to climb ladders, lift heavy weights (up to 60 lbs.), and work in cramped, damp, or poorly ventilated areas. Manual dexterity is needed to operate equipment and use tools. Some evening or overtime work may be necessary. Certain positions may require possession of a valid driver's license. Certain positions may be assigned work in State institutions and correctional facilities, where exposure to patients and inmates is present.

Minimum Qualifications

High School diploma or equivalent AND three (3) years or more in building construction, structural maintenance, or automotive, building, or machine repairs, including one year at the journeyman level.

 

OR

 

Completion of a one-year vocational/technical training program in building trades, mechanical repair, industrial arts or closely related area AND two (2) years or more in building construction, structural maintenance, or automotive, building, or machine repairs, including one year at the journeyman level.

 

OR

 

Completion of the eighth grade AND five (5) years or more in building construction, structural maintenance, or automotive, building, or machine repairs, including one year at the journeyman level.

 

OR

 

Associate's degree in building trades, mechanical repair, or closely related area AND one (1) year or more in building construction, structural maintenance, or automotive, building, or machine repairs at the journeyman level.

 

OR

 

State licensure at the master level in any particular skill area.
