Overview
The Master Plumber will be responsible for all maintenance and repairs of plumbing throughout the Southeast District of the Department of Buildings & General Services (BGS). This position will also be responsible for adding new fixtures as assigned. Additionally, the Plumber will oversee any new work done by contractors to make sure it complies to all applicable codes.
The starting pay rate may be negotiable based on experience and qualifications.

Environmental Factors
Duties are performed at state buildings including correctional facilities and psychiatric care facilities. Contact with inmates and patients may be anticipated. Incumbents may encounter harassment or hostile behavior, and must be able to respond in a calm and professional manner. Must be able to climb ladders, lift weights up to 75 pounds, and work in cramped, wet, or poorly ventilated areas. Plumbing repairs may entail exposure to raw sewage, for which protective clothing must be worn. This position may require emergency response to calls outside of regular work hours. Some potential for physical injury may be present. Position requires possession of a valid driver's license.
Minimum Qualifications
High School diploma or equivalent AND must possess a current valid State of Vermont Master Plumber's License.
Special Requirements
A criminal record check and/or a child abuse registry check may be required for some positions with this class based on where duties are to be performed.
