Overview

Invest EAP is seeking a skilled licensed Master's level counselor or social worker. We're a growing and dynamic team with diverse and engaging responsibilities. Our clients represent a broad cross-section of mostly adults throughout Vermont, and our dedicated counselors work collaboratively to provide short-term solution-focused counseling, resources, and support. This position will be engaged in development of new programming to support Vermonters who are recovering from opioid use as they find employment, start a career, and overcome barriers to self-sufficiency.

Environmental Factors

Duties are performed in a variety of office and employer workplace settings. Significant travel to employer sites may be required, for which private means of transportation must be available. Work outside of normal office hours may be required in responding to crisis situations. Dealing with people in highly emotional situations may entail some discomfort and possible danger. Duties include managing urgent issues with members such as suicidal/homicidal, domestic violence and drug induced crises. Staff carry pagers and respond to urgent requests both during the workday and after hours.

Minimum Qualifications

Master's degree or higher in counseling, psychology, social work, psychiatry, or marriage and family therapy AND two (2) years or more experience in counseling, psychology, psychiatry, or social work AND licensure as a clinical mental health counselor, clinical social worker, psychologist – master, psychologist – doctorate, marriage and family therapist, or psychiatrist.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Considerable knowledge of counseling principles, practices, and techniques.
  • High proficiency and ability to apply Motivational Interviewing in counseling to improve the motivation of clients to reduce their barriers to employment. 
  • Ability to help managers unpack and assess complex employee and organizational situations in order to develop helpful and supportive responses that remediate problems.
  • Working knowledge of individual and group dynamics.
  • Possess facilitation skills to lead teams of providers and participants successfully though the complex array of community and state supports.

Candidates must pass any level of background investigation applicable to the position. In accordance with AHS Policy 4.02, Hiring Standards, Vermont and/or national criminal record checks, as well as DMV and adult and child abuse registry checks, as appropriate to the position under recruitment, will be conducted on candidates, with the exception of those who are current classified state employees seeking transfer, promotion or demotion into an AHS classified position or are persons exercising re-employment (RIF) rights.
