Overview

We are looking for an experienced human service professional for our Newport VocRehab Office with an ability to support consumers with physical, psychological or cognitive disabilities in their efforts to gain employment. Job duties include assessment, guidance and counseling, assisting in finding employment and work experiences, case management, documentation, and collaboration with many community providers. This is a Temporary position with Part-time hours. Candidates must have a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Rehabilitation Counseling, Counseling, Social Work, Psychology or Special Education. Good computer skills are required. NOTE: There is one position open for which we are recruiting at three levels (Associate VR Counselor, VR Counselor I and II) so applicants should apply for each of the levels for which they wish to be considered.

Who May Apply

This position, Associate VR Counselor (Job Requisition #3142), is open to all State employees and external applicants. 
This is a temporary position. Temporary work is typically for variable hours, and is not expected to be full-time. The State does not guarantee 40 hours of work per week.

Environmental Factors

Duties are performed primarily within a standard office setting. Some travel may be required to consumer homes and work sites, for which private means of transportation must be available.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree AND two (2) years at or above a paraprofessional or technical level in a human services program, involving direct client contact.
