Overview

The Vermont Department of Labor's Unemployment Insurance (UI) Division is seeking a highly detail-oriented individual with a background in supervising, auditing, investigative work, and/or accounting to fill our UC Chief Field Auditor position. This position manages and supervises the assignment or work, over all workflow, and Field Audit Unit, which is responsible for auditing Vermont businesses and claimants to ensure compliance with the unemployment insurance program.  The incumbent will be responsible for ensuring federal performance standards are met for the program, hiring, training, supervising, coaching, and mentoring of staff, auditing, and taking the lead on high-profile cases. This position requires frequent travel.

Environmental Factors

Duties are performed both in a standard office setting and in the field, at a variety of workplaces, and public locations, and on occasion to private residences.

Some evening, weekend, long and/or irregular hours may be necessary during particular assignments. Duties will require travel throughout the state. Some overnight and out-of-state travel may be required on occasion. A valid driver's license and private means of transportation are required. Considerable public contact is routinely expected. Strong adversarial opinions, hostility, and stress may be encountered. Formal testimony is subject to cross-examination.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in accounting, public or business administration and three years professional level auditing, accounting or business administrative experience and three years supervisory experience.

OR

Associate's degree in accounting, public or business administration and five years of professional level auditing, accounting or business administrative experience and five years supervisory experience.

OR

High School diploma or equivalent and seven years of professional level auditing, accounting or business administrative experience and five years supervisory experience

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in the field of Unemployment Insurance.
