Overview

As the primary liaison between the Department of Buildings and General Services (BGS), Regional Planning Commissions (RPCs), and municipalities, the Coordinator plays a key role in coordinating the functions of the Municipal Energy Resilience Program (MERP). The role focuses on supporting participating municipalities through education, outreach, and collaboration on energy resilience initiatives.

 

This position works closely with MERP stakeholders on program development, measurement, and verification. Stakeholders include Regional Planning Commissions, Efficiency Vermont, the Vermont League of Cities and Towns, the Department of Public Service, and municipalities across the state.

 

The incumbent will support the MERP Building Project Manager, Grants Specialist, and Program Manager by gathering information, coordinating with contractors and field staff, maintaining data systems, tracking projects and funding, and generating reports. Municipal contacts may include both individual municipal employees and RPC planners.

 

Additional responsibilities include coordinating and tracking all energy project applications and funded projects, overseeing energy resilience assessments, and assisting the Program Manager with the development of municipal energy management policies and best practices. This position will also help prepare materials for legislative testimony.

 

This position is based at the BGS offices in Montpelier, and telework requests will be considered, with Mondays being required in office.

Environmental Factors

Work is performed in a standard office setting with some travel to state owned facilities to oversee energy audits required.  

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, building energy systems science, public administration, field related to energy, business, or accounting.

OR

High school diploma AND four (4) years of experience in energy programs, energy efficiency, renewable energy, or related field.
