Overview

The Vermont Department of Public Service seeks a Staff Attorney to represent the public in electric, gas, telecommunications, and water utility matters before the Vermont Public Utility Commission, federal regulatory agencies, and state and federal courts. Experience of at least 3-5 years in utility regulation or civil litigation is preferred, but all candidates will be considered. A background in public interest, economics, or accounting is desirable. Applicants must demonstrate the ability to work well with a multi-disciplinary team in a fast-paced environment.  Experience with administrative law, utility rate regulation, and/or land use and environmental law is especially helpful. The applicant must have excellent research and writing skills. Admission to the Vermont Bar is required.

This is a full-time, Exempt position with benefits. Salary is negotiable based upon qualifications, see the Attorney Pay Plan for more information.

This is a Limited Service position, which is non-tenured and authorized for a specific period of time. Limited Service positions are established for specially funded projects or programs.

Minimum Qualifications

Admission to the Vermont Bar, or eligibility for admission.
