The Office of Professional Regulation, a division of the Secretary of State's Office, seeks a staff attorney I, II, III, or IV to support the Office's mission to protect the public. The Office licenses and regulates a diverse group of professions, from tattooists and estheticians to accountants and nurses.  The topics and issues that arise are equally varied and complex.  This position is within the General Counsel Division and reports directly to the Office's General Counsel.  
 
Duties include counseling professional boards and advisor groups; responding to legal inquiries from the public, licensees, and professional associations; monitoring regulatory issues and legal developments in the health sciences and other regulated professions; researching and developing policy; and drafting policy reports, administrative rules, and legislative proposals.   
 
This position is a full-time, exempt position in Montpelier.  Salary will be based upon qualifications and experience in accordance with the Attorney Pay Plan:

Minimum Qualifications

Candidates must be well organized, interested in public policy and regulatory modernization, and highly proficient at legal research and concise written communication to varied audiences.  Candidates must be admitted to practice law in Vermont. Two years of relevant attorney experience is required.  

Preferred Qualifications

Background in administrative law, health care law, or consumer protection law is highly desirable.
