Overview

The Tax department is hiring seasonal assistance with processing tax returns and payments including opening & batching mail, scanning and verifying image capture, data entry, quality control and team work. We are looking for someone with great attention to detail, familiarity with computer operations and data entry with the willingness to learn and follow instructions.  The successful candidate will work well under pressure, be reliable and comfortable in an office environment.
Multiple positions being hired for this listing and some may require speed and accuracy (near 6,000/hr. range) with data entry.  Entry level position for quick learners.

This is a temporary position. Temporary work is typically for variable hours, and is not expected to be full-time. The State does not guarantee 40 hours of work per week.

Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent AND four 4 years or more of clerical work experience above an entry level, INCLUDING two 2 years or more of experience in data processing, computer operations, quality control, or as a data technician. OR Two 2 years of full-time college or an associate's degree or higher INCLUDING coursework in computer sciences AND four 4 years or more of clerical work experience above an entry level. OR Two 2 years of full-time college or an associate's degree or higher AND two 2 years or more of experience in data processing, computer operations, quality control, or as a data technician.
Environmental Factors

Incumbents must be able to produce accurate work under pressure from heavy volume, tight deadlines, and machine malfunctions. Duties require ability to lift boxes (25 lbs or more) and ability to switch from one type of return processing to another on a regular basis. Exposure to machine noise and cool temperatures in machine room.

Special Requirements

One year prior experience as a Vermont Department of Taxes Data Clerk .
