The Department of Environmental Conservation has an exciting opportunity for a talented individual to join our Financial Operations Team within the Administration and Innovation Division. This position will be involved with review of all transactions across the department for compliance with all of our internal control requirements and provide training and technical assistance to all of our divisions and grantees and contractors. The ideal candidate will be inquisitive, collaborative, digitally proficient, and have a desire to learn new skills and software. The ideal candidate will also have strong internal and external communication skills to work supportively with members of the Department and the public.

The Department of Environmental Conservation currently operates in a hybrid working environment, supporting remote work as well as Core Days in which all staff are in the office. Permission to participate in telework is applied for on an individual basis.

It is a Limited Service position, which is non-tenured and authorized for a specific period of time. Limited Service positions are established for specially funded projects or programs.

Environmental Factors

Duties are performed in a standard office setting as well as in the field, for which private means of transportation should be available. Some work outside of normal work schedule may be required. Some adversarial situations may arise for which tact and diplomacy are required. There may be some pressure from deadlines.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's degree with a major in accounting, business or public administration.

Experience: Four years at a professional level in accounting or auditing. Preference will be given to experience with public or governmental accounting.

Note: Additional work experience may be substituted for the Bachelor's degree on a six months for semester basis.

Note: Graduate work in business or public administration or accounting may be substituted for up to two years of the work experience on a semester for six months basis.
