Overview

This position performs technical work in the Unclaimed Property Division of the State Treasurer's Office in maintaining financial records and claims management data by maintaining a significant part of a large, complex claims management and accounting system.

 

Work is performed independently within established policies and procedures, and is reviewed by technical superiors primarily through periodic audits and verification of financial records and statements. In addition, this person posts receipts of holder data and corresponding stock certificates, cash or cash equivalents; processes and records claim disbursements; and adjusts entries.

 

The ideal candidate will have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and deal with the public, banks, insurance companies, and the like in a courteous and productive manner, both in person and on the telephone. The Division is charged with locating owners of record (or the heirs) of property (other than real estate) that has been escheated to the Office of the Treasurer. Managing the inventory, the database, and the outreach efforts will greatly improve the goal of returning escheated property to the rightful owners on behalf of the Treasurer's Office.

Environmental Factors

Duties are performed predominately in an office setting. Private means of travel should be available for occasional travel when appropriate. Incumbents must be adaptable and able to work within tight time limits and under considerable stress. Some evening and weekend duty may be necessary.

Minimum Qualifications

High School diploma or equivalent AND two (2) years or more of experience at or above a technical level in program administration support (such as administrating components of a licensing and certification program, or records management).

 

OR

 

Two years or more of full-time college coursework OR an associate's degree or higher AND one (1) year or more of experience at or above a technical level in program administration support (such as administrating components of a licensing and certification program, or records management).
