Title: Part-Time BGS Vehicle & Equipment Technician

Overview
The BGS Vehicle & Equipment Technician position is responsible for installing, diagnosing, and providing support for telematics hardware in state fleet vehicles. This is a long-term temporary position that will work approximately 16 hours per week, including some weekends and holidays.
Duties also include vehicle detailing and shuttling vehicles to/from service appointments. Frequent travel and driving fleet vehicles is required. Work is primarily performed outdoors, sometimes in adverse weather conditions. Working environment requires accessing difficult-to-reach areas, such as underneath the dash, and reaching overhead for extended periods. Applicants must be able to work independently, read, understand, and follow wiring schematics and training documents, be comfortable using computer software applications and performing data entry, comply with safety standards at all times, and maintain a safe and clean work environment.

This position, BGS Vehicle & Equipment Technician (Job Requisition #45999), is open to all State employees and external applicants. This is a temporary position. Temporary work is typically for variable hours and is not expected to be full-time. The State does not guarantee 40 hours of work per week.

Environmental Factors
Work is performed in a standard office setting and outside in all weather conditions; some travel may be required. Occasional lifting and crouching may occur during the inspection of vehicles and/or movement of vehicle parts. Tact and diplomacy are required in dealing with customers and vendors. Work outside of regular work schedule should be anticipated.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent AND three (3) years or more of administrative experience involving computerized and/or automated systems of accounting, financial recordkeeping or automotive parts/service, which includes one (1) year of experience in motor vehicle mechanics, electronics, or related field.
Special Requirements
Must possess a valid driver's license.
Incumbents must obtain a State of Vermont Purchasing Card within the first 6 months of employment and maintain cardholder eligibility
