Overview

As a summer Intern, you will gain valuable hands-on experience working at The Vermont Department of Financial Regulation in Montpelier, Vermont.  

 

We are seeking three interns who will either rotate through various Departments or have an opportunity for more direct contributory work within DFR's four Divisions:

  • Banking Division  
  • Insurance Division  
  • Captives Division 
  • Securities Division 

 

It's an opportunity to apply your educational insights and learning in a real-world regulatory work environment.  


 
The Interns will be responsible for various projects under the guidance of Department leaders. The Internship will include job shadowing, reviewing regulatory rules, participating in consumer service processing of complaints, financial analysis and examination and the legal process of Financial Regulation.   

 

At the end of the internship, a final presentation will be given to the management team on a topic to be decided. 

 

Ideal candidates should be detail-oriented and well organized, have a strong desire to learn and apply knowledge and exhibit effective interpersonal skills with a collaborative style. 

 

This is an in-person, paid internship opportunity, starting in June 2026 and located in Montpelier, VT. We provide support required to obtain college credits if needed and permitted by your college/university.

This position, Paid Intern, Financial Regulation-Temporary (Job Requisition #54025), is open to all State employees and external applicants. This is a temporary position. Temporary work is typically for variable hours, and is not expected to be full-time. The State does not guarantee 40 hours of work per week.

Must be entering junior or senior year of college, or be in a masters program.
