Overview

The Vermont Secretary of State's office is looking for an Outreach Intern for Summer 2026. The Intern will focus on public outreach for the upcoming election season. They will assist with the design of outreach materials, event planning, and the creation of social media content. A substantial part of this internship will involve travel across the state to various events in order to promote voter registration and voter education. 

We are looking for someone who is outgoing, passionate about civic engagement, and wants to help Vermonters get prepared to cast their vote. This internship is an excellent opportunity for public communications and political science students as well as anyone who cares deeply about supporting democracy in Vermont. The intern will have many opportunities to interact with senior leadership and will gain experience with public speaking, community outreach, and digital media. 

Personal transportation and some evening and weekend hours are required.

This position, Outreach Intern (Paid) (Job Requisition # 54692), is open to all State employees and external applicants. This is a temporary position. Temporary work is typically for variable hours, and is not expected to be full-time. The State does not guarantee 40 hours of work per week.
