Title:  Mental Health Board Executive Officer

Overview

The Secretary of State's Office of Professional Regulation (OPR) is seeking a visionary and motivated Executive Officer to lead regulatory oversight for Vermont's mental health professions. This is a pivotal moment for mental health regulation, and we are looking for a dynamic leader to help drive meaningful change.

At OPR, we are actively reimagining the regulatory landscape - streamlining licensure processes, reducing unnecessary barriers to entry, and ensuring the highest standards of professional competence across the state. As Executive Officer, you'll play a key leadership role in shaping the future of mental health care in Vermont.

What You'll Do:

• Lead regulatory efforts to protect the public through the development and implementation of policy, rulemaking, and professional oversight.
• Serve as an expert liaison among the Board and advisor groups, licensees, mental health professionals, educational institutions, employers, and national organizations.
• Collaborate with diverse stakeholders to modernize regulation and promote innovation in mental health services.

Environmental Factors

Duties are performed largely in an office setting. Private means of transportation must be available for required travel. Some out-of-state travel will be necessary. Evening meetings may occur.

Minimum Qualifications

Licensed as a practitioner in mental health counseling, social work, or marriage and family therapy, which includes the requisite education.

AND

Five (5) years or more of professional-level work experience in clinical mental health practice, including administration, teaching, or supervision in schools or mental health agencies.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with the legislative process and communicating with legislators.

Knowledge of a broad spectrum of regulated mental health credentials in Vermont. 

Experience with the regulation promulgation process.
 

Special Requirements

Required to maintain Vermont licensure during the full term of employment.
