Overview

The Agency of Digital Services (ADS) currently has two (2) openings for Information Security Analysts that we are urgently seeking to fill. We are recruiting at multiple levels for all openings and will hire selected candidates at the level that most closely corresponds with their qualifications. One of these positions will be critical in supporting our CISO and the Agency of Digital Services.  The position is primarily responsible for supporting the Vermont Security Operations Center (VTSOC), maintaining the systems in use, and coordinating with our partners at Norwich University Applied Research Institutes (NUARI), all as part of the VTSOC duties.  Additional effort will also be applied to cyber risk management.  This position will require knowledge of network and security design within the scope of our established security policies and standards.  Consultation and analysis on inter-Agency projects is also an expectation of the position.

Specific duties of this position will involve:

•    Support and maintain VTSOC systems
•    Coordinate event tracking with NUARI
•    Network and security design
•    Firewall installation and maintenance
•    Security analysis for technology projects
•    Participate on the Cybersecurity Incident Response Team (CSIRT)

 

Our other opening supports federal compliance efforts for data security and performing "in house" cybersecurity assistance for the Vermont Department of Labor. The position has responsibility for secure configuration of servers and applications, vulnerability assessment and cybersecurity event investigation.  Further duties include advising the business operation on secure procurement, analyzing vendor proposals and contracts for necessary security requirements, and performing assigned actions relating to cyber risk management. Additional duties relating to tracking and maintaining the security assessments, plans of action and milestones (POA&M), and system security plans (SSP) required for any new system to get an authorization to connect (ATC) to Federal systems.  This position will require knowledge relating to system administration, application management, and network/firewall technologies.

Specific duties of these positions include:

•    Secure system configuration, vulnerability assessment, cyber event response
•    Track and maintain security assessments for Federal compliance
•    Develop and implement system security plans for Federally connected systems
•    Research and analysis for securing existing systems
•    Security analysis for technology projects and procurements
•    Participate on the Cybersecurity Incident Response Team (CSIRT)

Environmental Factors

Work is performed in a standard office setting, but some travel may be required for which private means of transportation should be available. Work outside of regular business hours is expected.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in computer science, programming, or engineering AND two (2) years or more of experience in the field of information technology.

OR

Six (6) years or more of experience in the field of information technology INCLUDING (2) years where the primary role was in information security.

OR

Four (4) years or more of experience in the field of information technology where the primary role was in information security AND possession of one (1) or more of the following certifications; Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) OR Global Information Assurance Certification (GIAC).

Certification in:

CompTIA Network+

CompTIA Security+

International Information Systems Security Certification Consortium (ISC)

Systems Security Certified Practitioner (SSCP)

Global Information Assurance Certification (GIAC) Information Security Certification

(ISC) Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
