Overview

The Department of Economic Development, housed within the Agency of Commerce and Community Development, is seeking a highly motivated professional to join our team. This position will assist in grants administration and compliance for Federal and State grants. The position will work with a combination of private sector, State partners, as well as other government agencies. The incumbent will serve as a subject matter expert on the department's programs and communicate available opportunities to applicants. The successful candidate will have excellent oral and written communication skills to effectively build partnerships and connect businesses to resources that leverage State and Federal dollars while growing the Vermont Economy. The ability to productively work independently and as a member of a team is essential. The position is based in the Montpelier office with the possibility for remote work and travel within Vermont and occasionally outside of Vermont. 


This is a limited-service position that is currently budgeted through 6/30/22. Limited-service positions are budgeted each year and extended based on program needs and funding availability.

It is a Limited Service position, which is non-tenured and authorized for a specific period of time. Limited Service positions are established for specially funded projects or programs.

Environmental Factors

Work is performed primarily in an office setting and in a variety of field situations including large group meetings. Some private means of transportation should be available since occasional travel outside of the worksite will be required. Meetings with various advisory committees, public interest groups, municipal officials and program staff as well as basic position functions may entail significant evening hours. Urgent deadlines can be anticipated.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree with coursework in financial management, grants administration or program evaluation AND three (3) years or more at a professional level in accounting, financial auditing work, grants administration, or in a role with responsibility for management of financial affairs, or a governmental accounting system.

OR

Master's degree or higher in business or public administration AND two (2) years or more at a professional level in accounting, financial auditing work, grants administration, or in a role with responsibility for management of financial affairs, or a governmental accounting system.

OR

Two years or more of full-time college coursework OR an associate's degree with coursework in financial management, grants administration or program evaluation AND five (5) years or more at a professional level in accounting, financial auditing work, grants administration, or in a role with responsibility for management of financial affairs, or a governmental accounting system.

OR

High School diploma or equivalent AND seven (7) years or more at a professional level in accounting, financial auditing work, grants administration, or in a role with responsibility for management of financial affairs, or a governmental accounting system.
