Overview

The Financial Services Division (FSD) of the Agency of Administration (AoA) is presenting an opportunity for a Financial Director II to join our successful team to provide complex financial, budget management, and business consulting services to a variety of state departments and organizations.

 

This position will work independently and as member of a dynamic team, with direct communication to client leadership and staff to maintain effective working relationships, fiscal management and encourage best accounting practices. This position will assist an assigned client base in state budgeting, yearend closing and regular budget monitoring and fiscal management as well as business consulting. In addition, this position prepares annual Internal Service Fund (ISF) financial statements and is a regular contributor to special continuous improvement projects, and upgrade and implementation statewide systems projects. As a member of this team, you will be called upon to understand how the various statewide systems interact and how any upgrades or changes will affect the various stakeholders.

 

This is a dynamic office and the needs of our clients often change, the necessary obligations and scope of services our office provides also change so we are looking for a motivated individual that is adaptable to change and works well in a team!

 

We foster a hybrid work environment where telework is offered but there are specified days each month identified as Core Days when working in the office is necessary.

Environmental Factors

Work is performed in a standard office setting.

Minimum Qualifications

Master's degree in accounting, business or public administration or a related field AND two (2) years of professional level accounting, budgeting, fiscal auditing, fiscal analysis, federal program fiscal administration or other professional level fiscal operations experience including managing a major fiscal program or operation.

OR

Bachelor's degree in accounting or a bachelor's degree in any discipline that includes or is supplemented by 20 credit hours in accounting and three (3) years of professional level accounting, budgeting, fiscal auditing, fiscal analysis, federal program fiscal administration or other professional level fiscal operations experience which has included managing a major fiscal program or operation.

OR

Associate's degree AND five (5) years or more of professional level accounting, budgeting, fiscal auditing, fiscal analysis, federal program fiscal administration or other professional level fiscal operations experience which has included experience managing programs, funding sources or staff OR six (6) years or more of experience managing a significant fiscal program or section.

OR

High School diploma or equivalent AND eight (8) years or more of professional level accounting, budgeting, fiscal auditing, fiscal analysis, federal program fiscal administration or other professional level fiscal operations experience which has included experience managing programs, funding sources or staff.

OR

One (1) year or more of experience as a Financial Director I with the State of Vermont.

Special Requirements

For some positions experience working with the VISION system (VISION is the State of Vermont PeopleSoft financial management system) may be required.

For some positions preference may be given to applicants with experience managing large fiscal operations.
