Overview

The Financial Operations section of the Administration and Innovation Division is seeking a Financial Administrator III to join our team. This is a great opportunity to work among dedicated colleagues who are committed to protecting Vermont's environment.

 

We are seeking an applicant with a strong background in accounts payable and billing. This position is pivotal in preparing and tracking the billing and payment for services provided by various programs, as well as department wide reporting to assist management in monitoring the financial activity of the Department. This position is also responsible for other accounts payable transactions, helping to coordinate the various payable activities of the department in support of other finance staff. This position also assists in processing invoices, coordinating with specific program internal and external stakeholders, setting up external stakeholders for payment. Prior experience with accounts payable, managing highly-detailed processes, and a passion for creating excel spreadsheets (and pivot tables) is preferred. We operate in a team-oriented, continuously improving environment in which the Financial Administrator III will be an important contributor.

 

This position will assist in a wide range of tasks including:
•    Working with new Agency partners to be set up in various financial and management systems
•    Processing accounts payable for vouchers for a variety of programs within the Department
•    Facilitating regular meetings with program staff to discuss successes, challenges, and questions. 
•    Assisting with the transition of the State and Departments payment processing systems 

 

The Department of Environmental Conservation currently operates in a hybrid working environment, supporting remote work as well as Core Days in which all staff are in the office. Permission to participate in telework is applied for on an individual basis.

Environmental Factors

Work is performed in a standard office setting.

Minimum Qualifications

High School diploma or equivalent AND five (5) years or more of professional experience in accounting involving maintaining, reviewing, and analyzing accounting or financial data and records to ensure compliance with accepted accounting practices and standards.

 

OR

 

Associate's degree in accounting, business administration, office administration or a related field AND four (4) years of professional experience in accounting, maintaining, reviewing, analyzing and accounting or financial data and records to ensure compliance with accepted accounting practices and standards

 

OR

 

Bachelor's degree in accounting AND one (1) year of accounting experience maintaining, reviewing, analyzing and accounting or financial data and records to ensure compliance with accepted accounting practices and standards

 

OR


Two (2) year as a Financial Administrator II with the State of Vermont.


NOTE: CPA certificate is considered qualifying.

For some positions, preference may be given to applicants with supervisory experience.

Special Requirements

For some positions experience working with the VISION system (VISION is the State of Vermont PeopleSoft financial management system)may be required.
