Overview

The Department of Labor's Unemployment Insurance (UI) Division is currently in need of an experienced accounting professional to join our team. This position will work directly with the UI Financial Manager to support the UI financial accounting for unemployment funds.

Primary duties of the Unemployment Insurance Financial Administrator II will include:
 
•    Prepares and analyses' the daily financial reports for the UI Trust Fund
•    Calculates the daily drawdown
•    Review and Oversee ACH Collections
•    Prepare and analyze Federal and State tax withholding reports
•    Prepare annual Federal and State 1099 tax reports
•    Prepare and post daily journal entries into accounting software
•    Analysis and process of the daily direct deposition files
•    Daily maintenance of the Pandemic Unemployment Assistance (PUA) benefit account
•    Void payments
•    PUA Benefit Account Check and Bank Reconciliations
•    Compile Financial Data

It is a Limited Service position, which is non-tenured and authorized for a specific period of time. Limited Service positions are established for specially funded projects or programs. We anticipate the end date to be 12/31/2021.

Environmental Factors

Work is performed in a standard office setting.

Minimum Qualifications

High School diploma or equivalent AND three (3) years or more of accounting experience maintaining, reviewing and analyzing financial data and records.

OR

Associate's degree in accounting, business/office administration AND two (2) years or more of accounting experience maintaining, reviewing and analyzing financial data and records.

OR

Bachelor's degree in accounting, business/office administration.

OR

One (1) year or more of experience as a Financial Specialist III with the State of Vermont.

NOTE: All levels of required accounting experience, unless otherwise noted, must have been performed to ensure compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and standards.

Special Requirements

For some positions experience working with the VISION system (VISION is the State of Vermont PeopleSoft financial management system) may be required.
