The Agency Facilities Engineering Section of the Department of Environmental Conservation is seeking a temporary Environmental Engineer II with a civil engineering and surveying background and AutoCAD drafting skills. Agency Facilities Engineering provides in-house professional civil engineering and consulting services for the Agency of Natural Resources including the Department of Forests, Parks and Recreation, the Fish & Wildlife Department and Department of Environmental Conservation. This position will perform research, testing, topographical surveys, develop site plans and construction drawings, compile construction specifications, develop cost estimates and assist with bidding and construction review for agency projects. Preference shall be given to applicants with experience in AutoCAD drafting and topographic surveying.

This position, Environmental Engineer II - Temporary (Job Requisition #33782), is open to all State employees and external applicants. This is a temporary position. Temporary work is typically for variable hours, and is not expected to be full-time. The State does not guarantee 40 hours of work per week.

Environmental Factors

Duties are largely performed in an office setting; however, some field travel may be necessary for which private means of transportation must be available. Field work may involve exposure to chemicals, gases, hazardous liquid and solid waste, and construction sites during all weather conditions; and may involve traversing rough terrain and bodies of water. Some work outside of regular working hours may be required. Strong and conflicting opinions may be encountered.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in environmental, sanitary, water resources, chemical, civil or mechanical engineering AND one (1) year or more of professional experience in environmental, sanitary, water resources, chemical, civil or air pollution engineering.


Bachelor's degree in any field of engineering AND two (2) years or more of experience in environmental, sanitary, water resources, chemical, civil or air pollution engineering.


Master's degree in environmental, sanitary, water resources, chemical, civil or air pollution engineering.


One (1) year or more of experience as an Environmental Engineer I.
