Overview

This temporary position will provide up to 20 hours a week during the legislative session (generally mid-January to mid-May)  of direct assistance to Agency of Natural Resources (ANR)  by monitoring, in person at the Vermont statehouse  or online, activities in legislative committees that cover critical environmental and climate action policy issues.  Working with the Agency's Leadership Team, this person will monitor discussions and lawmaking in the relevant committees, both online and in person at the Vermont statehouse.  Duties include a weekly in-person or online meeting in Montpelier, legislative calendar tracking and coordination, observing and taking notes of legislative committee discussions, tracking relevant legislation and research as needed.

Temporary work is typically for variable hours, and is not expected to be full-time. The State does not guarantee 40 hours of work per week.

Environmental Factors

Duties are largely performed in an office setting; however, some field travel may be necessary for which private means of transportation must be available. Field work may involve exposure to chemicals, gases, hazardous liquid and solid waste, construction sites during all weather conditions and may involve traversing rough terrain and bodies of water. Some work outside of regular working hours may be required. Strong and conflicting opinions may be encountered.

Minimum Qualifications

Two (2) years or more of a combination of education and/or experience in a biological-life or physical science, engineering, or an environmental or natural resources field.
