Overview
The Agency of Education (AOE) is hiring an Education Programs Coordinator I to support transformational change efforts using the Vermont Multi-tiered System of Supports (VTmtss) Framework. The VTmtss Team integrates continuous improvement principles when providing high-quality, comprehensive technical assistance on systems improvement to district and school-level teams. VTmtss Team members collaborate with cross-divisional and inter-agency teams to align improvement efforts within Vermont school systems to meet the social, emotional, mental health, and academic success needs for each and every student.
The VTmtss Team plays a key role in providing content expertise, guidance, and support focused on tiered support systems and preventive practices. Topics related, but not limited, to providing technical assistance and support for: exclusionary discipline; restraint and seclusion; hazing, harassment, and bullying prevention and response; family and community engagement; school climate, wellness, and belonging; and Section 504 supports.
The VTmtss Team is looking for a teammate who will contribute to these systemic improvement efforts and support, and has ideally demonstrated skills and experience in:
- independently managing short-term, multi-faceted projects and tasks.
- working collaboratively to lead and support, with the potential of leading, projects within teams and across organizations.
- clearly and effectively communicating verbally and in writing.
- analyzing educational systems data to identify trends and outcomes.
- leading and facilitating systems change and continuous improvement initiatives in an educational setting in which diverse perspectives are represented.

Environmental Factors
Work is generally performed in a standard office setting but significant travel may be anticipated for which private means of transportation must be available. Some work outside of normal work schedule may be required. There may be considerable interaction with a variety of publics and strong differences of opinion may be encountered.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in education, public administration, or related field AND four (4) years or more at a professional level in education, program development, or leadership role in a public or private educational institution.
OR
Three (3) years or more of experience as an Education Consultant II with the State of Vermont.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree.
Content area expertise related to district level change management/leadership, positive school climate, special education, or early education.
