The Agency of Commerce and Community Development seeks a creative, enthusiastic, and experienced digital marketing specialist to support the state’s economic development marketing, visitation, and recruitment initiatives. The successful candidate will work with an internal marketing team to create compelling visual and written content to inspire current and potential residents, as well as businesses and entrepreneurs, to visit, live and work in Vermont.  


Primary responsibilities include day-to-day management of Agency websites, including, with content development and user interface design. Duties include UX/IA updates based on user profiles and usage patterns; on-going optimization of website performance; design and content updates via a content management system; and development of digital and email marketing campaigns. Develops content for websites, social media, digital advertising, and email marketing. Duties also include general administrative services in support of the economic development marketing team, including vendor outreach and other tasks as assigned. 

The ideal candidate will have 2-4 years of experience in web design, content development, communications, and digital marketing. Candidate must have strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft stories and an engaging web experience. Must be able to work independently as well as collaboratively with a diverse range of industry partners and colleagues. Must have web content management system and at least some HTML/CSS experience. Additional experience with WordPress, Drupal, SiteCore, Adobe Creative Suite and/or Google Analytics would be helpful, as would experience with paid advertising on social and social media management.

Environmental Factors

Duties are performed in a standard office setting. Certain promotional activities, required convention or event attendance, etc. may require travel or occasional overnight stays. Public contact and communication, both verbally and in writing, is frequently necessary.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree AND two (2) years or more of experience in web design, content development, communications or digital marketing.


Four (4) years or more of experience in web design, content development, communications or digital marketing.
