Overview

The Department of Buildings & General Services is seeking a Director of Planning & Property Management to lead a forward-thinking division to manage a diverse and complex portfolio of state facilities and leased space. This is an exciting opportunity to oversee strategic facility planning, renewable energy and energy efficiency initiatives, and management of leased space to support state services and optimize operational efficiency. 

 

The Director is responsible for the oversight of programming, space planning, and property management. This includes short and long-range capital planning; asset management; feasibility studies; acquisition and sale of state property; and oversight of lease agreements. 

 

Supervision is exercised over planners, energy office staff, leasing agents and move coordination staff. Duties are performed under the general direction of the Commissioner of Buildings and General Services. 

 

Candidates must have the ability to establish effective working relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders, cultivate a team environment, and thrive in a fast-paced environment. Experience with real estate and process improvement is strongly encouraged.

Environmental Factors

Duties are normally performed in a standard office setting but with need for travel to various state facilities and leased properties statewide. Private means of transportation should be available for necessary travel. Duties may require work outside of normal work hours.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in engineering, planning, public administration, business administration or accounting AND five (5) years of professional level experience in commercial real estate management.

OR

Associates degree in engineering, planning, public administration, business administration or accounting AND seven (7) years of professional level experience in commercial real estate management.

OR

High school diploma or equivalent AND ten (10) years or more of professional level experience in commercial real estate management.

Preferred Qualifications

Prior experience managing large scale real estate portfolios.

Commercial real estate or leasing experience.

Prior supervisory/management experience.
