Overview
Buildings and General Services (BGS) at the State of Vermont has an exciting opportunity as an BGS Custodian III. This position is located within the historic city of Montpelier, the capital of Vermont. The Custodian III will need to be able to communicate with various teams within the complex, and function as a team lead for a diverse group of custodial staff. This position will work Monday through Friday, from 7:30am to 4pm. Position requires successful completion of multiple background checks and a valid drivers license.
The Department of BGS is a diverse organization with over 340 employees serving state agencies and departments within Sate Government. BGS provides the facilities services required for all state agencies and departments to accomplish their missions. Environmental Factors
Duties are performed during an assigned shift at one or more state owned or leased buildings. Cleaning work often involves addressing bloodborne pathogens and other potentially infections material. Incumbents must be able to work outdoors in all types of weather. Good physical condition and ability to climb ladders and lift weights of up to 50-lbs. is necessary. Overtime and evening work may be required.
Minimum Qualifications
Two (2) years or more of building custodial work that included floor maintenance tasks such as stripping and waxing floors and carpet extraction.
OR
Two (2) years as a BGS Custodian II.
Special Requirements
Some positions in this class require a valid driver’s license and own transportation for travel between work locations.
Candidates must pass any level of background investigation applicable to the position.
