Overview

Buildings and General Services (BGS) at the State of Vermont has entry level opportunities for Custodian II positions. These individuals will be part of a team that will be taking care of daily cleaning duties of the historic Montpelier Complex. Position will require successful completion of background checks.

 

We are currently filling the 12:00pm to 8:30pm shift, Monday through Friday.

 

BGS is a diverse organization with over 340 employees serving state agencies and departments with State Government. BGS provides the facilities services required for all state agencies and departments to accomplish their missions. As part of the Operations and Maintenance Division, you will be an essential team member and part of the largest division in BGS. This position is eligible for a sign-on and retention bonus of up to $1000! Only new hires employed by BGS at the Custodian I or II levels in the location specified in this job posting are eligible for this bonus program. Environmental Factors

Duties are performed during an assigned shift at a state owned or leased building. Must be able to work outdoors in all types of weather. Good physical condition and ability to climb ladders and lift heavy weights and equipment (up to 40 lbs.) is necessary. Some overtime or evening work may be required.

Minimum Qualifications

High School diploma or equivalent AND one (1) year or more of building custodial work, including floor care.

OR

Two (2) years of building custodial work, including floor care.

OR

One (1) year as a BGS Custodian I.

Special Requirements

Some positions in this class may require a valid driver's license and/or own transportation for travel between work sites.

A criminal record check and/or child abuse registry check may be required for some positions within this class based on the locations where duties are to be performed.
